Algae optics in Wisconsin

On the last day in Wisconsin I was out on a 4-wheeler ride when I saw a puddle back in the woods with a greenish film on it and decided to check it out to see if there was any optics in the algae film and lo and behold I saw a spectacular display of diffraction in the form of a corona around the sun's reflection, Quételet rings and a algae glory around my shadow. I could also see a fogbow like glow around the glory. I took quite a few pic's of this and I have always wanted to see some algae optics after seeing Marko Rikonnen's algae optics images that were taken from rocky islands in the Baltic Sea

Rainbow 6-30-13 with wheel spokes in the bow

Had a thunderstorm pass close to use and saw a small piece of rainbow form and when I got my camera it began to become more complete and the secondary was faintly visible as well and there was some interference arcs. The best part when the bow was mostly complete were the anticrepuscular rays converged into the rainbow forming the rainbow wheel with spokes like a wagon wheel. This is the second time I have gotten a nice spoked rainbow and the last was in either 2004 or 2005

Elliptical halo 3-29-2013

On Good Friday which happened to be my birthday I saw some AC clouds coming in and precipitating into a layer of crystals and saw an elliptical glow around the sun. It was after I put on my sunglasses I realized an elliptical halo had been in progress. The halo came and went and sometimes it would do that expand and shrink and at one stage the top part of the ellipse had straight angles sides making it look diamond like in shape.
